Bad Axe
Part of Shecklet #2’s birthday present from Aunt Larissa was a trip to Bad Axe for some axe throwing. They reserved a lane that held enough people to bring Grandpa Dave, Jake, and Shecklet #1 along, too. It looked like a lot of fun. I want to join them next time!
Saying goodbye
I made a trip to Duluth today to spend time with my Aunt Deb who was placed on hospice on this past Monday. The drive was gloomy and wet, which fit the heaviness of the reason behind my visit.
Once at the hospital, I was able to spend about five hours beside Deb’s hospital bed. For most of the afternoon, she rested peacefully. Toward the end of my stay, she began getting restless. The nurses who cared for her were kind and worked to get her comfortable again by administering enough pain meds to calm her down.
Cancer is a horrible disease. It has taken a vibrant, sharp, kind, and confident woman from her friends and family. Her presence in our lives will be missed tremendously.
Before I left, I whispered to my aunt that I loved her and asked her to hug my sweet Astrid when she gets to heaven. I know she will be welcomed by a host of family and friends who are waiting for her when it is her time to pass from this life to the next.

My kids can probably tell you where you can find it if you’re having trouble tracking it down.

Biking with Aunt Larissa
Aunt Larissa took Shecklet #4 on a bike ride this afternoon. They went to the “big park” and #4 played on some of the equipment for a little while before they biked home. Chilly ride, but glad they got some fresh air.
Zoo & Conservatory with Aunt Larissa
Shecklet #1 took his camera and went with his Aunt Larissa to Como Zoo & Conservatory today. He took pictures of the flowers and they walked around the zoo to look at the animals.
Final ski day of 2022 ⛷
Not much snow left, but they are going to give Trollhaugen one last try for the season.
Shecklet #2 did the waterskipping competition again this year. He went all out and donned his party shirt for the occasion.

Spring break 2022
We spent the week at home. Jake traveled for work during the beginning of the week.
Shecklet #2 suggested we add some color to the study room, so we pulled down ceiling tiles and primed them for painting.
Three kids used the painter’s tape technique to paint design their designs and one used a sponge technique.
Once the weather warmed up enough, the kids put on their shorts (it was in the 50’s 😆) and went for their first bike ride of 2022.
Update: April 16. I chose to paint a family of gnomes. After painting six, Shecklet #2 asked if I was planning to paint one for Astrid. I found a design that incorporated a halo. I love how it turned out! 💕
HBD Grandma Patti!
We hosted a birthday dinner for Grandma Patti tonight. Jake and the boys grilled salmon for the adults and we made mac-n-cheese for the kids. Larissa and the girls made cupcakes and they decorated them with green frosting (since it’s March.)
