Happy birthday to me

Another birthday, another year older. But I’m not counting. Just trying to enjoy the day, giving thanks for good health, family and friends to share experiences with, and looking forward to what’s in store for the coming year.

My MIL came up to spend some time with us and we had a chance to be outside enjoying the heavy, wet snow.

Jake donned his party shirt for dinner and cake tonight. Love how his guy loves loves me ❤️

Trolls

The Shecklets and I went to the theater today to check out the Trolls movie. We got to the ticket counter only to discover I had left my wallet back at home. *Sigh*

So after returning home and having lunch, we drove back to the theater (with my wallet this time) and had the whole place almost to ourselves. Only two others came for the showing we were at. The movie soundtrack is a Shecklet favorite right now.

Point U!

I took my mini me to see the Golden Gopher volleyball team play Rutgers. They won the match in three sets. It was fun to be in campus again!

Mill City Museum

I went on a field trip with Shecklet #2 and his 3rd grade class today. We learned a lot about the old flour mill and the river that used to power it. Great field trip!

Green

We had celebratory cupcakes for dessert tonight in honor of Shecklet #3’s first day of kindergarten. The color was so bold, it stained lips, tongues and fingers!

This was Shecklet #4 in her pink tractor cart earlier in the day when we she selected the cupcakes. (We met Nana for breakfast at Hy-Vee after sending the other three Shecklets off to school.)

Riding Kid

Three of the Shecklets met Nana at the stable for some horse back riding.

The afternoon ended in a deluge of water falling from the sky, so only Kid was rode. Next time we’ll give Rio a try.

Plant Nite

Kari invited her mom and sisters out for a Plant Nite to celebrate her birthday. Larissa couldn’t make it, but the rest of us had a fun time!

Purple hair

When I was in college, I dyed my hair auburn. Apparently in the right light, it looked purple. A roommate of mine called me “Purple hair Roni” as a result. Flash forward a few years and I actually dyed my 5 1/2 year old’s hair purple. Real purple. Purchased by Auntie Kari 💜 It turned out great and Shecklet #3 has had so much fun with it.

Delicious!

We had donuts from Hans Bakery yesterday after Family Formation and part of Shecklet #3’s came home in the bag that was originally my maple-bacon long john.  As she was finishing up her raised glazed doughnut, she had this to tell me…

Shecklet #3: “Mom, do you know what?!?”

Mom: “What?”

Shecklet #3: “These are pieces of bacon and they are delicious!”
