Happy 6th Birthday to #4!

It’s time for the annual “I can’t believe how old she is,” comment that I say every time one of my kids has a birthday. That and “Time goes so fast!” are frequent thoughts I have. Shecklet #4 is 6 today. SIX! She is full of creativity, independence, and kindness. She loves spending time playing with her older siblings yet enjoys time alone as well.

Games with Grands

Grandma and Grandpa came to see Shecklet #2’s basketball game today and brought Grandma Lois, too. After the game, we came back to our house for pizza and the kids got to play games with their grandparents. Another fun memory was made tonight. πŸ’—

Swurfer Sunday

This kid got a swurfer swing for Christmas and her dad made it possible for her to use is in the heated garage during the winter.

I even gave it a try. Shecklet #4 made sure I had a helmet on for safety!

Sledding after rain and snow

Jake took the Shecklets to find inner tubes for the sledding ramp they built toward the bottom of the hill in the backyard. They came home with these:

On the second run, Shecklet #2’s donut hit a screw head on the fence and exploded. Thankfully, he was physically fine. Unfortunately, he was pretty devastated that his new tube only lasted one and a half times down the hill.Β πŸ˜₯

Christmas Eve 2018 πŸŽ„

We didn’t get the usual post-mass family or kid pictures like we typically do. Instead, we opted for photos by the tree. They got off to a bit of a rocky start for the youngest Shecklet, but eventually we were able to get some real smiles out of her ❀️

Settergren Christmas 2018

We gathered at Grandma Lois’ church to celebrate Christmas with almost all of the family this afternoon. We feasted in Swedish meatballs, sausage, vegetables, salad, jello & rolls. After opening gifts, we had desert. Delicious food and fun family made for a great day – but we definitely missed having Papa Dale with us!

Shecklet #2 decided he wanted to dress more festive, so we tracked down a llama sweater for him (at our second Target stop.). Not wanting to be left out, Shecklets 1, 3 & 4 also found festive Christmas tops to wear to the family party.

Feast of St. Nicholas

I know today’s feast day typically means shoes filled with chocolate coins and oranges, but since were still eating Halloween candy, we opted for ornaments and book, titled theΒ Catechism of the Seven Sacraments.

Christmas tree 2018

We visited a a Christmas tree farm tonight and found our family’s tree 🌲 The kids (and the tree farm guy) all thought it was pretty funny that the tree fit inside the truck πŸ˜‚

Coffee with my MIL

I met my mother-in-law at Bachman’s this morning. We had coffee & quiche, had a chance to catch up a little (she had a busy fall, so we didn’t get to see her much.) We also took some time to wander around the store to check out all of the Christmas decorations. We even stopped for a picture at the “selfie spot.”
