Taking out the dock
September is a busy month this year, so the annual dock removal and Nissedalen cleanup took place today. We had beautiful weather and had a lot of fun while working together.
September is a busy month this year, so the annual dock removal and Nissedalen cleanup took place today. We had beautiful weather and had a lot of fun while working together.
I brought home 5 more gnomes from Nissedalen to (hopefully) bring back to life.
These two solid concrete ones were in pretty rough shape. The boy, more so than the girl. In spite of his chipped nose, I think he still turned out pretty well.
And I love how the girl now has colorful flowers in her basket.
A clear coat sealed them up and they headed back to Nissedalen to be stored for the winter. I plan to work on the remaining three and the Nissedalen sign over the winter and return them in the spring.
Shecklet #4 has had a toothache off and on since having one of her molars filled a few months ago. Today it was so painful we had an emergency trip to the dentist and then on to the oral surgeon to have it pulled. It had abscessed, which was disappointing to hear. The experience was not pleasant and I think we were both traumatized by it, but I’m glad she’s no longer feeling pain when she chews.
We went back to Carver Lake for an afternoon of riding.
And then went to visit Aunt Kari. The guys dismantled a pallet and we did a little yard work for fun ๐.
We burned the pallet wood and had sโmores, too.
Two more gnomes came home from Nissedalen last month. I finally had time to freshen up their paint over the last few days – while the girls were at school.
Now they just need a few coats of clear sealant and they will be ready to return to their home up north!
Shecklets 3 & 4 went back to school today. We have a 4th grader and a 6th grader. One in upper elementary and one in middle school. Here’s to learning new things, making new friends, growing (physically and emotionally,) and having a normal year!
We gathered in Hastings to celebrate Kariโs birthday (a day early.) The weather was gorgeous, so we spent most of the evening outside. The Shecklets enjoyed seeing their little cousins โค๏ธ
Jake took the girls and one of his sisters out west to the Orange Spectacular this evening, complete with a tractor pull. Shecklet #4 even found a chainsaw ๐ (Yes, I know my tractor emoji is John Deere-colored. I apologize to the Allis-Chalmers devotees.)
Itโs the middle of summer and we are just getting out for our first ride on the single track trails. It was a beautiful morning. We went to the park with friends and got several miles in before the rain came through. Great way to start a Saturday!
