1st Snow Day of 2023!

We are expecting several inches and strong winds, so the girls’ school decided to declare a snow day. They were on break prior to Christmas when Shecklet #2’s school district did the same, so I’m guessing that’s part of the reason behind the cancellation. The boys on the other hand, both had to return to their classes.

After playing outside for a while, the girls came in an made fancy hot cocoa drinks.

Little skier 🎿

The fourth Shecklet hit the slopes for the first time today!

The tow rope wasn’t of interest to her, so they stuck to the chairlifts. That meant they could explore more terrain than just the bunny hill.

Jake said the jumps call to her. Sounds like she’s following in her older brother’s (Shecklet #2’s) footsteps. Or maybe I should say, ski tracks ⛷

Playing “coronavirus”

The girls were playing Barbies after their schoolwork was done this afternoon. When I peeked in the room to see what they were up to, they pointed out one particular Barbie who had an accessory that could be used as a gaiter, skirt, headband, or a mask, “if you’re playing ‘coronavirus,'” as told to me by Shecklet #4.

Happy purple 💜

I painted the white walls first in the girls’ room and saved the purple for last 😊. Only one coat so far, but it is looking great!

Priming

The girls requested a bed switch – they want the bunkbeds and want the boys to have the twin beds. That request set a large project in motion – purging and cleaning the room out, patching holes, and now priming the walls. I took the girls to Sherwin Williams this afternoon to pick out paint samples. The plan is to paint three walls white and one purple.

Both girls helped prime today, but I only snapped a photo of one. I’ll capture the other one next time.

HBD JDS 2020 🎂

It’s Jake’s birthday today. The second family birthday we’re celebrating in quarantine-mode. He requested take-out from Ole Piper Inn and an ice cream cake. His sister, Larissa, was also able to join us. (The cake was part of my Walmart pick-up order and was slightly less than perfect, but it couldn’t beat his “Barthday” cake from several years ago.)

For presents, he told me the best one would be getting a text from me after my weekly midwife appointment telling him I heard the baby’s heartbeat. Thankfully the baby was more than happy to give him that gift.

Surly goggles

Jake pulled the carrier tops off a four pack of Surly and cut them in half for the girls. We added a little duct tape and made them in to goggles. Only problem is, they can’t see out of them. 😎
