Basement painting marathon

I have wanted to repaint the basement bathroom for years. I finally picked a paint color, started the project AND finished it!

Before and after:

The basement walls also needed a fresh coat of paint. I patched holes (a long time ago 😳) and never went back to repaint. I am embarrassed to even say how long my walls have looked polka dotted. But no more! The room feels amazing now!

After:

The paint color looks different due to the way the light hits the walls, but it is the same color throughout.

Happy purple 💜

I painted the white walls first in the girls’ room and saved the purple for last 😊. Only one coat so far, but it is looking great!

Priming

The girls requested a bed switch – they want the bunkbeds and want the boys to have the twin beds. That request set a large project in motion – purging and cleaning the room out, patching holes, and now priming the walls. I took the girls to Sherwin Williams this afternoon to pick out paint samples. The plan is to paint three walls white and one purple.

Both girls helped prime today, but I only snapped a photo of one. I’ll capture the other one next time.

How do I fix this?

I noticed the curtain rod in the Barbie room was sagging a bit.  Upon closer review, one of the brackets was pulled out from the wall and hanging by the screw tips.

We were later told by the child responsible, that they were trying to shut the shades and in doing so, pulled out the bracket.  It must have been quite a pull!

Sunday fun in the garage

One of the teachers at the kids’ school saw Shecklet #2’s invention and told him she’d like to have one for her house. Jake took the four kids to Menards to buy PVC pipe so #2 could make her one. The other Shecklets took advantage of the empty garage and rode their scooters and balance bike.

Gingerbread houses

On day 1 of Christmas vacation we assembled the houses.

Then on day 2, the kids decorated them. Can you locate the gingerbread under all of the frosting and sprinkles?

Inventors Fair 2017

This kid. With a little help from Papa and his dad, he came up with “The Light-up Chore Sign.”  He tested it with five families (including ours) and received positive feedback from all of the parents 🙂
