Gnome Restoration – part 3

I brought home 5 more gnomes from Nissedalen to (hopefully) bring back to life.

These two solid concrete ones were in pretty rough shape. The boy, more so than the girl. In spite of his chipped nose, I think he still turned out pretty well.

And I love how the girl now has colorful flowers in her basket.

A clear coat sealed them up and they headed back to Nissedalen to be stored for the winter. I plan to work on the remaining three and the Nissedalen sign over the winter and return them in the spring.

Gnome restoration – part 2

Two more gnomes came home from Nissedalen last month. I finally had time to freshen up their paint over the last few days – while the girls were at school.

Now they just need a few coats of clear sealant and they will be ready to return to their home up north!

Spring break 2022

We spent the week at home. Jake traveled for work during the beginning of the week.

Shecklet #2 suggested we add some color to the study room, so we pulled down ceiling tiles and primed them for painting.

Three kids used the painterโ€™s tape technique to paint design their designs and one used a sponge technique.

Once the weather warmed up enough, the kids put on their shorts (it was in the 50โ€™s ๐Ÿ˜†) and went for their first bike ride of 2022.

Update: April 16. I chose to paint a family of gnomes. After painting six, Shecklet #2 asked if I was planning to paint one for Astrid. I found a design that incorporated a halo. I love how it turned out! ๐Ÿ’•

Gnome therapy

These guys have seen better days. Time and the elements have taken their toll so I figured it was time to give them a coat of fresh paint. I am excited about how they turned out!

Painting…again

While Jake was on the road, I decided to repaint the basement bedroom (that I have also wanted to repaint for years!) Finally made it a priority this weekend. I also had a helper ๐Ÿ˜Š

Before and after:

Basement painting marathon

I have wanted to repaint the basement bathroom for years. I finally picked a paint color, started the project AND finished it!

Before and after:

The basement walls also needed a fresh coat of paint. I patched holes (a long time ago ๐Ÿ˜ณ) and never went back to repaint. I am embarrassed to even say how long my walls have looked polka dotted. But no more! The room feels amazing now!

After:

The paint color looks different due to the way the light hits the walls, but it is the same color throughout.

Bunk bed girls

Room is painted, beds are swapped, and these two have way too much energy before bed ๐Ÿคฃ

Happy purple ๐Ÿ’œ

I painted the white walls first in the girlsโ€™ room and saved the purple for last ๐Ÿ˜Š. Only one coat so far, but it is looking great!

Priming

The girls requested a bed switch – they want the bunkbeds and want the boys to have the twin beds. That request set a large project in motion – purging and cleaning the room out, patching holes, and now priming the walls. I took the girls to Sherwin Williams this afternoon to pick out paint samples. The plan is to paint three walls white and one purple.

Both girls helped prime today, but I only snapped a photo of one. Iโ€™ll capture the other one next time.
