Ultimate game #3
Ultimate frisbee game at MG this afternoon. The field was pretty soggy as evidenced by the players’ backs and legs.

I took three Shecklets to the single track trails at Elm Creek this afternoon. The weather was beautiful and the trails were not busy at all.
The small bridge in the picture below proved slightly tricky for me. My balance is pretty decent most of the time, but for some reason when I’m tasked with staying on an elevated structure without sides, my head gets a little wonky. Thankfully, being off balance didn’t send me off the edge 😆
After riding for about two hours we grabbed dinner on our way to ultimate frisbee. Eight teams played tonight! It was great to spend the day outside!
The Mavericks had an exciting season this spring, culminating in a third place finish at the state tournament. Shecklet #1 has played family frisbee with a lot of the kids on his team, but this was the first time he had played at the high school level of intensity. His teams’ games were so fun to watch!
This weekend was the middle school ultimate frisbee state tournament. The kids played on turf fields – something new, and definitely different than the long-grassed, lumpy fields of their regular season. It was also HOT.
Did I mention it was HOT?
Three games were played on Saturday – all wins. Three more games were played on Sunday, including the championship game that was almost won. The score was 8-9 and time ran out. It was disappointing to see the team lose, but there were definitely things that were learned in the areas of sportsmanship (what not to do.) I joked with Jake that our kids’ team of 10 was fielded from 6 families and their opponents had 30+ kids and conservatively, coming from what I’d imagine was at least 20 families. Our kids are champions in my book!
Game day for the middle school frisbee team! The Mavericks won both of their games!
Mid-swing picture of Shecklet #2 taken while resting his foot at frisbee. I am sure he would do a back flip off of the swing if I gave him the “ok.” But he knows I am not interested in any ER visits or orthopedic doctor appointments this year.
