U of MN bball game

Jake and I took Shecklet #3 and Shecklet #4 to a Gopher Women’s basketball game this afternoon. The league the girls played in partnered with the Gophers to offer discounted tickets. The Gophers didn’t end up with a win, but it was still fun to be back in The Barn to watch the game. Afterwards, the girls got to go onto the court and have their picture taken with teammates who attended. We had friends capture a picture for us in our maroon and gold.

End of the basketball season ๐Ÿ€

Shecklet# #3 and Shecklet #4 both had end of the season bball tournaments this weekend. Saturday they played at different locations, so Jake and I had to divide and conquer. He went to #4โ€™s games and I went to #3โ€™s. Both girls won both of their games, so we headed back to the gym (this time at the same location) on Sunday.

Shecklet #4 played first and her team played so hard! They put up numerous more shots than their competition, but the ball just didnโ€™t want to go in! They ended up with a third place finish!

Shecklet #3โ€™s team came into the tournament undefeated and ended undefeated! Their final game was very physical, but they played their game (good sportsmanship and great defense) and pulled away from the other team in the second half. Shecklet #3 earned four fouls! (Mrs. King from #2โ€™s bball days would have been proud!)

Final game of the season ๐Ÿ€

It’s the final day of basketball for the 3rd grade girls today. Shecklet #3 requested a fishtail braid into stead of a plain pony tail. I’m surprised at how easy it is!

The girls played a hard-fought game against Anoka. They didn’t come out on top, but should be proud of how well they played!

Cheering section

Shecklet #3 played 4 games of basketball this weekend. Saturday, her great grandma, one of her great aunts and future wife of Jake’s cousins came to watch her play. Then on Sunday, Grandma and Grandpa cheered her on. ๐Ÿ€

Game day times three plus a birthday

Basketball is in full swing in our house. And the games must go on (even when it’s mom’s birthday!)

Jake is took Shecklet #2 to Duluth for a tournament and we called in reinforcements (my amazing in-laws) to help shuttle the girls. My friend, Michelle came with me and my FIL to Shecklet #4’s game while my MIL and Shecklet #1 went to #3’s game.ย  Then afterwards, my MIL gave me the amazing gift of time to spend with Michelle going out to lunch – while she and my FIL hung out with the kids.ย  It was the best birthday gift a mom could receive during this stage of life!

Shecklet #2 had a cheering section of family while in Duluth – Jake’s cousin and her family for one game and my aunt and uncle for another.ย  It was so nice of them to take time to support Shecklet #2!

BTW- since Jake & #2 had to leave Saturday morning, we celebrated my birthday on Friday night. Chinese take-out and cake.

5th grade b-ball league tourney 2019 ๐Ÿงจ๐Ÿ€

This guy’s 5th grade basketball team played their hearts out this weekend! 3rd place out of 17 teams!

I had two parents come up to me at two different times today to say how they wished they were playing us for the championship tomorrow night because they were so impressed with our boysโ€™ sportsmanship. Those moms didnโ€™t need to give those compliments – they did so completely on their own.

So proud of his guy and his teammates!

Games with Grands

Grandma and Grandpa came to see Shecklet #2’s basketball game today and brought Grandma Lois, too. After the game, we came back to our house for pizza and the kids got to play games with their grandparents. Another fun memory was made tonight. ๐Ÿ’—

Basketball for Shecklet #4

Three of the four Shecklets are giving basketball a try this season. One of the neighboring cities has a program that introduces kindergarten kids to the sport. For four Saturday mornings, they get to practice dribbling, shooting, and playing some fun games. Shecklet #4 is already asking when she can sign up to play basketball again ๐Ÿ€

B-ball for Shecklet #3

It was Shecklet #3’s first b-ball game day today! The girls played two games and improved so much between game one and game two! So proud of them!
