Little skier 🎿

The fourth Shecklet hit the slopes for the first time today!

The tow rope wasn’t of interest to her, so they stuck to the chairlifts. That meant they could explore more terrain than just the bunny hill.

Jake said the jumps call to her. Sounds like she’s following in her older brother’s (Shecklet #2’s) footsteps. Or maybe I should say, ski tracks ⛷

Tubing

Two of Shecklet #3’s classmates/friends/basketball teammates invited her to go tubing yesterday. The hill was about an hour drive from our house, but worth it to hear the giggles and see the smiles. I also got a much-needed catch-up conversation with one of the girls’ moms. Two hours of fun and fresh air made everyone hungry, so we had tacos at a local restaurant before driving home.

On the slopes ⛷ 🏂

Shecklet #2 went skiing for the third time in two weeks. Today, Shecklet #3 joined him and Jake, but instad of skiing, she chose to give snowboarding a try. She loved it! And unsurprisingly, made a friend while practicing on the bunny hill after her lesson.

Gnome Walk

One of the neighboring suburbs organized a gnome walk along a trail in one of the parks. It was so fun to look high and low for the tiny and larger gnomes. We were supposed to find 15, but only located 13. The other two were apparently well hidden!

Halloween 2020 🎃

As with almost everything else 2020, Halloween is a bit different this year. The Shecklets did different activities today. (We opted to skip door to door trick-or-treating this year.)

Shecklet #2 did this with his friend:

Shecklet #1 and Shecklet #3 did this with Grandma & Grandpa:

And Shecklet #4 went trunk or treating at our church. Kids typically dress up as a saint for our parish’s annual All Saints Day party. This year, all on her own, #4 said she wanted to be St. Philomena in honor of her baby sister. I may or may not have gotten a little misty-eyed when she told me her plan.

Just like his dad ❄️

It wouldn’t be the start of the snowfall season without a photo of my son wearing flip flops and shorts to shovel the driveway so I could run an errand. Love this crazy kid!

Remembering Astrid

This morning, our family walked in the 2020 NILMDTS Virtual Remembrance Walk in honor of Astrid.

Top: Astrid’s name was read as part of the virtual ceremony for the remembrance walk.
Lower left: The six of us walked together around the neighborhood.
Lower right: My SIL gave me Color Street nail strips that were in recognition Pregnancy, Stillbirth, and Infant Loss awareness month. Astrid’s sisters each had a few fingers with them, too.

I’m incredibly grateful for the retouched images we have of her thanks to Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.

School pics 2020-2021

Thanks to Covid and distance learning, I’m not sure if my kids will have “official” school pictures. So like so many other things this year, we did something different. No uniforms, outside, and fall colors.

Family Formation kickoff

It was a beautiful (and windy) day to kickoff the start of our new Family Formation year at our parish.

Outside activities were enjoyed by all of the Shecklets – including the pie eating contest, egg breaking contest, scooter racing, and rock painting.
