Zoo & Conservatory with Aunt Larissa
Shecklet #1 took his camera and went with his Aunt Larissa to Como Zoo & Conservatory today. He took pictures of the flowers and they walked around the zoo to look at the animals.

Shecklet #2’s science teacher sent me this picture. She thought it was hilarious that he was wearing shorts, winter gloves and had his coat sleeves pushed up after coming in from recess. He is definitely a MN kid.
The Handmaidens of the Lord group that Shecklet #3 is part of planned and hosted a father/daughter dance for the 3-12th grade young ladies and their dads/father figures. Shecklets #3 & #4 accompanied their dad to the event. Shecklet #3 also invited a friend of hers from school to bring her dad too, which she did.
Shecklet #1 was asked to be the DJ for the event and was definitely in his element. He did a great job keeping the music going – because you can’t have a dance without music!
Shecklet #2 celebrated his birthday mid-week this year. His dinner request was homemade mac-n-cheese and key lime pie for dessert (which was not homemade.)
He received some of his favorite snacks, (including some from one of his science teacher & her daughter,) a new pillow, and a book with the photos and blog content his Aunt Bri wrote after his trip to Lake Tahoe last summer. (I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.)
To top things off, his godmother stopped by to greet him and deliver a gift.
I might repost this blog post each year, while adding to the photo collage of the many faces of this kid. It’s just too much fun to not share again!
To continue his celebration, he hung out with a few of his friends on the 26th. They had pizza, played video games, ping pong, and Kids Against Maturity (a gift from one of his buddies.) 14 seems to be off to a lively start for him!
Not much snow left, but they are going to give Trollhaugen one last try for the season.
Shecklet #2 did the waterskipping competition again this year. He went all out and donned his party shirt for the occasion.
You can also watch his entire run:
We spent the week at home. Jake traveled for work during the beginning of the week.
Shecklet #2 suggested we add some color to the study room, so we pulled down ceiling tiles and primed them for painting.
Three kids used the painter’s tape technique to paint design their designs and one used a sponge technique.
Once the weather warmed up enough, the kids put on their shorts (it was in the 50’s 😆) and went for their first bike ride of 2022.
Update: April 16. I chose to paint a family of gnomes. After painting six, Shecklet #2 asked if I was planning to paint one for Astrid. I found a design that incorporated a halo. I love how it turned out! 💕
We hosted a birthday dinner for Grandma Patti tonight. Jake and the boys grilled salmon for the adults and we made mac-n-cheese for the kids. Larissa and the girls made cupcakes and they decorated them with green frosting (since it’s March.)
One of the local suburbs sets up a gnome walk in different city parks. Today’s walk was a small/short one, but just enough for us to get a little fresh air before going to the indoor playground. These kids crack me up!
My friend J has an amazingly fun style – and my kids know it. The girls found these heeled boots during our trip to DSW today and immediately thought of J. They had me take a photo of them and text it to her. She approved 🙂
