Rain delay turn rain out

My parents went to the Twins game tonight. (Hot, muggy day today.) The dark clouds moved in and opened up.  Lucky for them, they had an umbrella and seats under the canopy!

Civic duty – primary

Took the girls with me to vote in the primary today. We were thanked by the volunteers for taking the time to show up. Our vote really makes a difference!

1st day 2016-2017 (part 1)

Shecklet #1 and Shecklet #2 started a new school year today. Fourth grade and second grade. I can hardly believe it! Part 2 of back to school starts on Thursday.  #4 asked to have her picture taken with her oldest brother. (#3 is MIA because she was still sleeping.)

Supply drop

VBS week is almost finished, which typically signals the supply drop for the new school year. We ate lunch, loaded up the backpacks with supplies and headed to the school.

Riding Kid

Three of the Shecklets met Nana at the stable for some horse back riding.

The afternoon ended in a deluge of water falling from the sky, so only Kid was rode. Next time we’ll give Rio a try.

County Fair 2016

We met my parents at the local county fair tonight. It’s just the right size for us – not a ton of walking between exhibits, which makes for happy kids. After grabbing a bite to eat and going on a few rides, we watched the tractor pull. Afterward, the older three Shecklets went into the pits to check out the vehicles.

Down by the U

Shecklet #2 participated in a research study at the Institute of Child Development his morning. After the appointment, I took the kids to Annie’s Parlour in Dinkytown and then we walked across the Stone Arch Bridge – yes, on one of the hottest days of the year!

Plant Nite

Kari invited her mom and sisters out for a Plant Nite to celebrate her birthday. Larissa couldn’t make it, but the rest of us had a fun time!

Blue for a boy!

My brother and sister-in-law and niece are adding a new baby to their family this fall! We found out what they are having after biting into cupcakes at the splash pad today.
