Back to school night

Or afternoon.

It’s day 4 of VBS week, which means it’s back to school night for the kids. Time to find out who their teachers are, drop off the supplies, and in the case of Shecklet #4, get an idea as to what the building looks like. All four Shecklets will be at the same school and on why same schedule for the next three years. Yeah for that!

Sorting the school year

Day 2 of summer break. Time to go through papers and projects from the school year. It is so much easier now that the kids can do the initial sort on their own. Then mom has an easier time with round two.

Wax Museum 2018

Shecklet #2 participated in this year’s wax museum at school. He chose James Spangler, who invented the first motorized vacuum. The kids created “buttons” that visitors pushed to “activate” the kids to tell about who they were – complete with costumes and props to look like they were a wax museum statue.

Shecklet #1 is 12!

Twelve years ago this kid made me a mom. I can’t believe how fast time has gone. Tonight we celebrated by going to his spring orchestra concert and then having donuts (his choice) for dessert. I am so proud of the young man he is becoming. He is kind, respectful, inquisitive, creative, and always has a hug for his mama ❤

Music and Art – Shecklet #2

It was Shecklet #2’s night to shine.  We wandered through the art show and found the two pieces he created.  I know I’ve said this before, but I love that my kids attend a school where the arts are an important piece of their education.  After the art show, we were entertained by the fourth graders’ singing and recorder playing.

Snow day…in April

19″ of snow in 48 hours was enough to have the kids’ schools declare a snow day today! It’s finally warm enough for them to enjoy the white stuff without getting cold in 10 minutes.

Music and Art -Shecklet #3

It is concert and art show season at school. Tonight I as the first of three events we’ll have in the next month. This girl did a great job in art class as well as singing with her fellow 1st graders!

Bad news, good news

Shecklet #3’s class worked with one of the advanced academics teachers today and completed a worksheet where the kids had to write about and illustrate bad news/good news. #3 continues to process what has happened in the last 6 months. I’m glad she can articulate her feelings so we can continue to talk about the situation and keep moving forward. 💗
