Snowflakes

I came home from taking Shecklet #2 for a haircut and found these three making snowflakes together.

Ping pong in the house

Jake and I have been talking about updating the basement space so the kids have more age-appropriate options for passing the time. Not that nerf wars and building random forts aren’t fun, but we recognize that if we want our kids to enjoy spending time at home (and welcome their friends,) we need to create an environment that supports those things.

We asked our friends if we could borrow their pickup truck and off we went to purchase a ping pong table. The boys had a hunch something was going on when we left, so since they were wide awake when we got back home, they were put to work with helping haul in the parts and assemble the table. We’re looking forward to lots of friendly competition over Christmas break!

Dinner at IKEA

We took Jake to the airport this evening – he is heading to Vegas for a conference. Since it was dinner time, I decided to let IKEA do the cooking tonight.

Lights for Christmas πŸŽ„

Shecklet #1 used his height and balance to help hang the lights on Great Grandma Lois’ house for Christmas. He and his dad also decorated the front pine tree with lights, which was a fun surprise for her.

He also used his talents to help hang his Aunt Larissa’s lights, too!

Moving help

Our SIL/kids’ aunt is in town and was planning to help her brother’s family move into their new house. We piled into the suburban and gave them a hand. The extra hands made short work of the unloading moving truck!

Cousins

Meeting their new little cousin πŸ’— Shecklet #3 was a bit sniffly today, so she and Jake stayed home. She will meet this little one in a different day.

Halloween 2021

Hooray for the return of another “normal” activity! The kids and their friends ran through the neighborhood collecting an incredible number of full size candy bars this year. (I must admit, I jumped on this train of thought this year and it was amazingly simple – and about the same price, if not cheaper, than buying all of those mini bars of candy.)

While kids did their thing, a friend of mine (and mom to 4 of the kids,) hung out, handed out candy and sipped cider. Yum!

Two dogs and to Darth Vaders. These four made quite the haul!
