Sneak

One of these days I hope to get a photo of this dog with the crayon in his mouth. He is a connoisseur of writing utensils. Pencils, crayons, colored pencils – he has gathered them all and then slowly and quietly makes his way to his bed in the laundry room. I found five crayons there just last night.

Quotables from #4

We had an opportunity to ride a few elevators, (or as #4 calls them,”elegators”) during our trip to STL. 🙂 Fast ones, slow ones, business ones and one in a house!

On our way back to the Sisters’ residence, we stopped at a grocery store for breakfast groceries. I said we were shopping at a local store and supporting “the little guy” instead of the big box store. #4 chimed in saying “support the little girl!”

Drummer boy

This kid is home with conjunctivitis, but that isn’t stopping him from letting his creative juices flow. He designed a drum set this afternoon.

Matching stripes

Nana stopped over today and delivered some tasty treats, milk, and spaghetti sauce that Papa had made. She came from BSF and was heading to an exercise appointment, so she made a wardrobe change before leaving our house. When she reappeared from the bathroom, Shecklet #3 immediately noticed that they matched!

Be prepared

This girl is prepared for whatever water comes her way today.  Jake’s response to my text with this picture was, “I knew one of my kids would be a boy scout.”

Dog bed

Why use the pillow bed we have for you when you can sleep in a laundry basket of towels in need of washing?

Target practice

Shecklet #2 is currently all about dart guns and target practice.  Here is today’s arrangement in the basement.

Scarecrow

Shecklet #3’s preschool is located on Jake’s way to work.  On most school days, he has been dropping her off a bit early so Shecklet #4 and I don’t have to make two round-trips in a three-hour period.  (On a side note, it has been fun to have some one-on-one time with #4.)  While we were eating lunch today, #3 started talking about “scarecrow.”  It took me a few seconds to realize that she was talking about “Care Crew” – the name of the before-school care she’s been going to.

We did happen to see a scarecrow in a field last week, so perhaps the similarly sounding words just got a bit mixed up. Either way, it was pretty funny 🙂

10/2/14 edited to add: this doesn’t seem to be a once or twice occurrence. #3 lovingly refers to her before preschool time as going to “scarecrow.”
