We have a teenager!

Thirteen years ago, this guy became the first Shecklet! We are incredibly proud of the young man he is becoming!

He requested chicken fettuccine alfredo for dinner tonight, followed by an angel food cake. (He lit his own candles this year 🎂.)

He’s around 5’7″ now – taller than a few aunties and getting close to looking me eye-to-eye!

The big 4-0!

Happy birthday to this guy!

His parents came up and went to lunch with us and brought a cake for dessert. The umbrella will come in handy at the kids’ track meets and at the cabin this summer. 🏃‍♀️ ☂ 🏃

Birthday party with a piñata

We celebrated the birthday of our friends’ daughter this afternoon.  Pizza, cake & ice cream and TWO piñatas! Breaking open the piñata and collecting candy is always a thrill for the kids. Thankfully the weather was nice enough for us to be outside.

Aunts

My kids have some pretty awesome aunts. They engage in conversations with them, play games, attend birthdays and sacraments and do a fantastic job at letting all four of kids know that they are special to them.

One aunt started a tradition of having the kids over for a sleepover as their birthday present. I joked with her today that if she ever ends the tradition, she’s going to have some very disappointed nieces and nephews!

Shecklet #2 spent the night last night (for his 11th bday present) and came home with a collection of perler bead creations. Pretty cool ones, in my opinion!

Celebrating 11 with friends 🥳🎂🎉

Shecklet #2 is turning 11 tomorrow and he asked to have a friend birthday party this year. He did all of the planning – video games and nerf battles, complete with brackets and a trophy.

We ordered pizza, had pie and ice cream and just let the boys hang out and be boys.

Oh and Jake ordered 1000 darts in an effort to make sure they didn’t run out of ammo 🤣

Budding artist

An over-sized art kit was one of the great presents that Shecklet #4 received for her 6th birthday. She put many of the art supplies to good use today, including the acrylic paints, brushes, and a fresh canvas.

Happy 6th Birthday to #4!

It’s time for the annual “I can’t believe how old she is,” comment that I say every time one of my kids has a birthday. That and “Time goes so fast!” are frequent thoughts I have. Shecklet #4 is 6 today. SIX! She is full of creativity, independence, and kindness. She loves spending time playing with her older siblings yet enjoys time alone as well.

Another trip around the sun

I got to celebrate my birthday with this great group of family and friends. Michelle and Angelo hosted us for dinner and an amazingly delicious pumpkin layered cake.

Gift opening (on the 24th) was full of fun surprises from Jake, the kids, my in-laws, and my aunt Deb, who made a cathedral pane lap quilt using pieces that my Grandma Fran had intended to use for quilting, but was unable to due to her failing eyesight.

Turning 8 is great!

Today Shecklet #3 turned 8! She requested a Texas sized donut like her big brother had. Since you only turn 8 once, I surprised her with two donuts that made an “8.” 🍩🍩

Shecklet #1 is 12!

Twelve years ago this kid made me a mom. I can’t believe how fast time has gone. Tonight we celebrated by going to his spring orchestra concert and then having donuts (his choice) for dessert. I am so proud of the young man he is becoming. He is kind, respectful, inquisitive, creative, and always has a hug for his mama ❤
