Family photos

I wanted to get one last “foursome” family photo before the baby comes.  We set up the tripod in the middle of the street and snapped away.  (One of the benefits to living on a quiet, rarely traveled street.)  I can’t believe we’ll be adding another baby to the mix in a few short weeks.

Best buds

I’m so glad these two have each other.  They really are good buds, in addition to being brothers.  They spent a little time “reading” together tonight.

First day of school 2010

I made the boys orange rolls (a 1st day tradition I started last year with Nolan)

and we took the token front step and church sign photos.  Shuttling between dropping Nolan off and getting Lincoln to ECFE is going to be a bit crazy, but I think we can make it work.  I’m looking forward to seeing how much they both grow this year.

Target Field

We took my parents to a Twins game (our first, their second, and Tony’s ???.)  We told my dad we would get him tickets back in June for Father’s Day and 9/7 (their 36th anniversary) was the first game we could get 5 tickets together in the section we were interested in.  The Twins won, which is always nice when you go to a sporting event, and we all had a good time.  I was appreciative of the extra leg room (compared to what you got at the Metrodome) and the close proximity of the bathrooms (since I’m 8 1/4 months preggo.)  We got ice cream sundaes in Twins caps and brought them home for the kids.  They ate their cereal out of them this morning – and tried them out on their heads.

The Great Get Together

It’s State Fair time!

Once again, we loaded into the suburban and hit the fairgrounds with the kids and our friend, Michelle. It was chilly this year!  we all needed extra layers and the boys each donned their stocking caps.  Just a few days earlier, people were still dressed in summer clothes.

We hit our favorite cookie spot early on so we could enjoy them throughout our tour.  We also made a stop at the Miracle of Birth building.  This year, our visit to the building had a particularly “special” meaning, since we are going to experience our own miracle of birth in a few short weeks!

The other memorable stop during our visit was to the giant slide.  Nolan and Lincoln loved the ride – Lincoln even asked to go again.

Sandbox Mountain

Our friend, Jeanne, came over to give me a bit of a break (and play with the kids.)  I was able to get the dishes done and the kitchen cleaned up while they built this in the sandbox:

Painting, round 2

Second day of painting outside.  This time the boys used teamwork to paint the table.  They started on opposite ends and met in the middle.  And then  to top it off, we put the kids’ hand and footprints on the table top.  They had so much fun – and the final product turned out great!  Our driveway also got its own fresh new look 🙂

Painting, round 1

We had a break from the heat & humidity, so I took the boys out on the driveway to paint their chairs.  We designated a tshirt and shorts for each of them as their new “paint clothes” and they took it from there.  Nolan chose to use multiple colors and cover his entire chair, while Lincoln kept going back to his trusty red 🙂  Once they were done, we placed their handprints on the seats as a reminder of whose chair is whose.  Up next…the table.

New table & chairs

Jake and I made a trip to Ikea for a new TV stand and ended up coming home with a table and chairs for the boys as well.  We picked out an unfinished set that we plan on having the boys paint.  Before they can do that though, assembly was required.

Happy Birthday Papa!

The boys and I brought balloons and cake to the office today to celebrate my dad’s birthday.  Lincoln picked out the fish balloon as well as the “over the hill” balloon.  (I guess that one was kind of appropriate since this year was a “milestone” birthday.  The kids put the candles in the cake and also helped Papa blow them out.  (Actually, I don’t think my dad had a chance to blow them out – the kids know what they’re doing when it comes to extinguishing cake candles 🙂
