Dinner at IKEA
We took Jake to the airport this evening – he is heading to Vegas for a conference. Since it was dinner time, I decided to let IKEA do the cooking tonight.

This crew of kids continues to grow.

And this year, the moms decided to do a little posing for the camera as well.
Our friends, Melissa and Tom, treated us to delicious Vietnamese takeout to celebrate my latest trip around the sun (a few days before my actual birthday.) The food was delicious, the game we played was fun – and we laughed a lot! And I received thoughtful gifts of earrings and a puzzle. One of the most notable parts of the night was walking in and seeing my heads on the motorbike sign that they had for their little guyβs reptile party a few weeks earlier. I never knew I was so adventurous!
My actual birthday was on a Tuesday and we were hosting our friends for a few days. I made a new chicken recipe for dinner and baked the famous Settergren chocolate vinegar cake with GF flour – and it turned out great! A few friends came to help me celebrate and see our visitors.
My MIL knows how much the Shecklets love homemade applesauce, so she sent us a bushel of apples from the orchard. It’s a fair amount of work, but the result is delicious.
The later 2000’s. The adults met at SJB when there were only 4 kids between the 6 of us. Now we have 10!
It was a lovely day for a walk at Bunker Regional Park followed by dinner out for just the adults. Lots of laughs, which were welcomed by everyone.
I would say βI do,β again in a heartbeat. Married life has definitely been full of joys, sorrows, and plenty of unexpected events, but I canβt imagine navigating it all without this guy by my side.
Happy Anniversary to my grill master!
The grill master at work – bacon, burgers and brats. So glad grilling season is year round in our house!
Shecklet #3 turned 11 today! She celebrate with friends last night. We thought 2-3 would be able to come over, but we ended up hosting 13 girls! They watched a movie outside, ate pizza and dessert, and played nighttime games in the yard. It was SO good to see them do normal kid activities again. π
Today there were gifts, Chinese take out for dinner, and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert.
Shecklet #3 was invited by a friend to go to Valleyfair for the day. It was a fun-filled last hurrah before school starts. Photo credit: MH
