Birthday hair 2020

It’s been months since I treated myself to anything related to my hair. We’re talking pre-covid shutdown.

I decided my upcoming birthday was a good excuse for a cut and color. And since it is 2020, I went bold. Because why not??

I love that my friend is a stylist. It was a treat to be able to catch up on life, kids, school, and everything else while the chemicals did their magic.

I love how it turned out!

Birthday #10 – take 2! πŸ₯³

We had to postpone Shecklet #3’s birthday party a week. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day and she had a lot of fun with the family and friends who celebrated with her.

Shecklet #3’s quaranTEN birthday! πŸŽ‚

This girl has made 10 trips around the sun! I cannot believe how fast her first decade has gone. She is an independent, loving, leader who is artistic, kind, and helpful. She gives great hugs and isn’t afraid to show emotion. I love to watch her work hard in school and sports and cannot wait to see what the coming year has in store for her. 🍁 πŸŽƒ 🍁

We decorated her bedroom door with streamers and made a birthday backdrop for her video calls today. She selected an awesome t-shirt and is all smiles today. Double digits!

For dinner, she requested pancakes, bacon & scrambled eggs. Her godmother/aunt joined us. She waited all day to open her cards and presents.

Birthday cake, was red velvet. The “0” candle on the cake was from the day we brought her home from the hospital. We celebrated her “0th” birthday with the boys as a way of including them in the joy of her birth in 2010.

Shecklet #1 is 14! πŸŽ‚

How can our oldest Shecklet be 14?!? Time seriously needs to slow down for a while. This kid is the kindest, most creative, and loving teenager I know. He requested burgers for his birthday dinner and a cookie dough ice cream cake – thanks DQ! Grandma & Grandpa and two aunties joined us for a social distance dinner in the driveway.

HBD JDS 2020 πŸŽ‚

It’s Jake’s birthday today. The second family birthday we’re celebrating in quarantine-mode. He requested take-out from Ole Piper Inn and an ice cream cake. His sister, Larissa, was also able to join us. (The cake was part of my Walmart pick-up order and was slightly less than perfect, but it couldn’t beat his “Barthday” cake from several years ago.)

For presents, he told me the best one would be getting a text from me after my weekly midwife appointment telling him I heard the baby’s heartbeat. Thankfully the baby was more than happy to give him that gift.

Shecklet #2 turns 12 πŸŽ‚

Happy birthday to our witty, fun-loving, and big-hearted Shecklet #2! He’d rather be heading back to school today, but we will make the most out of this time of social isolation by celebrating at home throughout the day – including his dinner choice of spaghetti and pie for dessert. πŸ₯³

HBD #7 to #4! πŸ₯³

Hard to believe this ambulance baby has been making us smile and laugh for 7 years! She brings such joy to our house.Β  I love her creativity, her confidence, and her love for others.

We enjoyed celebrating twice with her – once the weekend before her birthday (with family and friends) and on her actual birthday.

Ready to ski β›·πŸŽΏ

The boys tried skiing for the first time back in December. (The middle schoolers went together on the last day before Christmas break.) Shecklet #2 decided he wants to ski instead of play basketball next year. Jake happened upon a great clearance sale yesterday, so we decided to outfit him now so he can get use out of the gear this season as well as next – happy early birthday Shecklet #2! (The boots actually adjust as his foot grows, so they should last a while.). Needless to say, he’s pretty excited!

Game day times three plus a birthday

Basketball is in full swing in our house. And the games must go on (even when it’s mom’s birthday!)

Jake is took Shecklet #2 to Duluth for a tournament and we called in reinforcements (my amazing in-laws) to help shuttle the girls. My friend, Michelle came with me and my FIL to Shecklet #4’s game while my MIL and Shecklet #1 went to #3’s game.Β  Then afterwards, my MIL gave me the amazing gift of time to spend with Michelle going out to lunch – while she and my FIL hung out with the kids.Β  It was the best birthday gift a mom could receive during this stage of life!

Shecklet #2 had a cheering section of family while in Duluth – Jake’s cousin and her family for one game and my aunt and uncle for another.Β  It was so nice of them to take time to support Shecklet #2!

BTW- since Jake & #2 had to leave Saturday morning, we celebrated my birthday on Friday night. Chinese take-out and cake.

9 trips around the sun

Happy birthday to Shecklet #3! She wanted pizza (mac-n-cheese-topped) and cheesecake for her birthday dinner tonight. Afterwards, she opened presents and we captured some silly pictures of just the girls.

Love this girl so much πŸ’• She is growing up to be a remarkable young lady.
