FMSC – Saints Yes!

Our Saints Yes! group volunteered at Feed My Starving Children this morning. It’s always time well spent, but also doubles as a great morning with my boys. Our group packed 26 boxes of the total for the session!

The boys want to go back after Easter – and the girls want to go along as well. I’m looking forward to making that happen. This organization in particular makes it easy for families to actively engage their kids in something life changing for other kids. I think that’s part of why we love volunteering there so much.

Aunts

My kids have some pretty awesome aunts. They engage in conversations with them, play games, attend birthdays and sacraments and do a fantastic job at letting all four of kids know that they are special to them.

One aunt started a tradition of having the kids over for a sleepover as their birthday present. I joked with her today that if she ever ends the tradition, she’s going to have some very disappointed nieces and nephews!

Shecklet #2 spent the night last night (for his 11th bday present) and came home with a collection of perler bead creations. Pretty cool ones, in my opinion!

Celebrating 11 with friends 🥳🎂🎉

Shecklet #2 is turning 11 tomorrow and he asked to have a friend birthday party this year. He did all of the planning – video games and nerf battles, complete with brackets and a trophy.

We ordered pizza, had pie and ice cream and just let the boys hang out and be boys.

Oh and Jake ordered 1000 darts in an effort to make sure they didn’t run out of ammo 🤣

5th grade b-ball league tourney 2019 🧨🏀

This guy’s 5th grade basketball team played their hearts out this weekend! 3rd place out of 17 teams!

I had two parents come up to me at two different times today to say how they wished they were playing us for the championship tomorrow night because they were so impressed with our boys’ sportsmanship. Those moms didn’t need to give those compliments – they did so completely on their own.

So proud of his guy and his teammates!

Budding artist

An over-sized art kit was one of the great presents that Shecklet #4 received for her 6th birthday. She put many of the art supplies to good use today, including the acrylic paints, brushes, and a fresh canvas.

Happy 6th Birthday to #4!

It’s time for the annual “I can’t believe how old she is,” comment that I say every time one of my kids has a birthday. That and “Time goes so fast!” are frequent thoughts I have. Shecklet #4 is 6 today. SIX! She is full of creativity, independence, and kindness. She loves spending time playing with her older siblings yet enjoys time alone as well.

💯 days of school

Big week in K for Shecklet #4. Not only was yesterday Valentine’s Day, but the kids also had a royalty parade throughout the school. #4 wore her sister’s St. Joan of Arc costume and was a royal knight.

Today was the 100th day of school. Kids had a chance to dress like they were 100.

Snow day #6

6 of the last 12 school days have been cold or snow days for the Shecklets. We finally had a warm enough snow day where they could play outside for more than 5 minutes before freezing!

Mr. Popper’s Penguins

I was chosen to chaperone Shecklet #4’s field trip to the Children’s Theatre Company today. The production was well  done and the kids had fun writing on the frosty windows to and from the destination. ❄️🥶❄️
