Sled track building

Jake got the snowblower working last night and put it to use this afternoon by helping the kids build a sledding track. ❄️🛷❄️

Swurfer Sunday

This kid got a swurfer swing for Christmas and her dad made it possible for her to use is in the heated garage during the winter.

I even gave it a try. Shecklet #4 made sure I had a helmet on for safety!

Sledding after rain and snow

Jake took the Shecklets to find inner tubes for the sledding ramp they built toward the bottom of the hill in the backyard. They came home with these:

On the second run, Shecklet #2’s donut hit a screw head on the fence and exploded. Thankfully, he was physically fine. Unfortunately, he was pretty devastated that his new tube only lasted one and a half times down the hill. 😥

Ship builders

Who needs Christmas presents when the boxes the gifts arrive in inspire you to build this?

Pre-Thanksgiving 2018

Our good friends from KC came to visit for a few days. Many laughs and fun memories were made and we captured a couple of pictures to document how much the kids have grown 😊

This kid loves her godparents so much!

Trip to the local ninja gym for some exercise.

Rare mom selfie!

Pink Sister

Our church held their annual craft and bake sale this morning. Shecklet #3 asked if she could buy a pink habit for her American Girl doll. We sent pictures to her godfather, who introduced us to the pink Sisters when we visited him in STL two years ago.

B-ball for Shecklet #3

It was Shecklet #3’s first b-ball game day today! The girls played two games and improved so much between game one and game two! So proud of them!

City gathering

The day was perfect for attending our city’s “block party” where the kids could check out City Hall, all kinds of city vehicles, inspect the jail, and try on police gear, among other things.

Paddle boarding & Nissedalen @ 50 years

✅ Paddle boarding!!

We spent the day celebrating 50 years at Nissedalen today.  The weather was absolutely perfect and the lake water was warm enough for me to enjoy being in it.  If you know me at all, that’s a pretty big deal!  With summer (sort of) winding down, today was a great day to attempt the next major item on my recovery checklist – paddle boarding.  Jake rented a couple of boards from a local shop and his cousins let us use their trucks to transport them to the lake.  When the little kids weren’t using them, a few of the adults gave them a try.  I was thrilled to not only get up without falling off the board, but keep my balance while paddling down the shoreline and back! Hooray for another recovery item checked off!

Group shot – 4 generations!

Grandma Lois & Papa Dale with many of their grandkids (and spouses) and great-grandkids!

One note about the coloring of the pictures.  The smoke in the air from the fires out west was intense.  These have been tweaked a bit just to tone down the yellow tones a bit – and they still look hazy!

Shecklet #2 also got up on skis today! Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of him, but he wants to go again, so I’ll try to capture one next time.
