Bad Axe

Part of Shecklet #2’s birthday present from Aunt Larissa was a trip to Bad Axe for some axe throwing. They reserved a lane that held enough people to bring Grandpa Dave, Jake, and Shecklet #1 along, too. It looked like a lot of fun. I want to join them next time!

Earrings for Shecklet #4

This girl has been so patient! We originally scheduled an appointment to have her ears pierced back in December. Unfortunately, we had colds off and on through January, so we kept putting it off.

Fast forward to today – she finally got her wish!

She was SO brave! The red studs look so good on her!

Orchids for Astrid

Jake and I took a stained glass class together at The Artery Studio tonight. It was so much fun!

We received three orchid plants after our daughter Astrid died, but I was never able to get them to bloom a second time. We made these to remember our sweet little girl ๐Ÿ’— (and bonus, they donโ€™t need to be watered!)

Bible in a Year

I did it! Iโ€™m a few days in to 2022, but I did it. I finished listening to the Bible in a Year podcast from Fr. Mike Schmitz.

Iโ€™m 44 and this is the first time in my life I have gone through the entire Bible. I learned SO much and am extremely grateful to have been able to learn more about Godโ€™s word and my faith.

Gingerbread houses – 2021

We decided to try something new and hot glue our gingerbread houses together before decorating them. Since we didn’t plan on eating them, it saved in frosting and time! Win-win!

After the decorating was completed, we polled several family members and hereโ€™s how the results came out:

Best use of frosting: #4 (Shecklet #3)
Best use of candy: # 1 (Shecklet #2)
Best traditional house: #3 (Shecklet #4)
Best whimsical house: #2 (Shecklet #1)

Ping pong in the house

Jake and I have been talking about updating the basement space so the kids have more age-appropriate options for passing the time. Not that nerf wars and building random forts aren’t fun, but we recognize that if we want our kids to enjoy spending time at home (and welcome their friends,) we need to create an environment that supports those things.

We asked our friends if we could borrow their pickup truck and off we went to purchase a ping pong table. The boys had a hunch something was going on when we left, so since they were wide awake when we got back home, they were put to work with helping haul in the parts and assemble the table. We’re looking forward to lots of friendly competition over Christmas break!

Just the ladies

My SIL asked if I was interested in going to the (rescheduled) Lauren Daigle concert with my girls and a friend of hers. I added my friend, MS, to our group and we made it an outing for the 6 of us. It was so much fun to hear live music. Lauren definitely loves to entertain and her voice is amazing in person.

Diamond Dotz

My Aunt Deb sent me home with three diamond dotz starter kits when I visited her back in September. The girls and I finally had a chance to sit down and work on them during MEA break. What fun! I can see why my aunt has enjoyed working on them!
