Fall trip to the orchard

We took a trip to Jake’s parents’ house today and were able to enjoy the beautiful weather!  The kids got to trick-or-treat at Grandma and Grandpa’s house and then we headed to the apple orchard where my mother-in-law works ever fall.  The older three Littles loved checking out the animals, climbing the hay bales, playing on the wooden train, going for a tractor ride and navigating the corn maze.  Little #4 wasn’t very enthralled with taking group photos with her siblings, but we tried.

Such a fun day!  Little #3 thoroughly enjoyed turning 3.  I love that our friends and family came to help make her birthday extra special.

Last Park Day of July 2013

This week’s “Tour of Parks” stop took us to the local nature center.  Little #1 visited here for a school field trip last year and saw how they make maple syrup.

Here are the three older ones by the frog statue made from trash pulled from the Mississippi River.

They had lots of fun playing in the sand and water.

There was also a huge garden where the kids were encouraged to water the flowers, vegetables and herbs.

The kids asked when we can go back again, so we will definitely be adding today’s stop to our “must return” list.

Tour of parks

We have been joining our friends for a weekly tour of parks this summer. Today we had a lovely lunch outside and played at TWO parks – one on each side of the street. As always, the littles had a blast!

Visiting cousins

It might not look like it on Little #3’s face, but the kids had great time with their cousins this weekend!

State Fair 2012

The boys have been early risers for a while…well, earlier than their mom, that is.  This morning was a bit extreme though.  It’s funny how on the ball they are when they know there is something exciting in store for the day.  We have been “counting sleeps” since last week in anticipation of the MN State Fair.  Well, this morning I was sweetly awoken by my “middle little,” all dressed with his bed made and everything.  He came into our bedroom and said, “today we get to go to the Fair!”  If only it were as easy to get them up on “regular” days of the week.

We met Jake at the fairgrounds after he was finished with work.  We took in the John Deere tractors, little kids farm area where the trio got to “do chores” and then tried out the Giant Slidewith our friend, Michelle and her fiancé, Angelo.  From there, we headed to the space needle for a round-a-bout view of the metro.  Yummy, deep-fried food, sheep, chickens & rabbits and lots of people watching rounded out the evening.  The kids had a great time 🙂
