Star Wars Escape Room

The county library had an opportunity to try a Star Wars themed escape room activity this afternoon. I registered the boys several weeks ago thinking it was SO far off…and here it is today! They were part of a group of 6 who escaped in 25 minutes – the fastest time thus far! They humored me by taking a photo after their escape.

Feast of St. Nicholas 2019

Each Shecklet gets an ornament, chocolate coins, mini jars of Nutella (because they are so cute!) and cereal and orange gum to share. I know oranges are what St. Nick actually is known for, but my kids are hit or miss with them. So I stuck with what I know they’ll all enjoy.

Sleeping Shecklets

I’ve been wanting to put these pictures in a collage for years. Just haven’t taken the time…until tonight. My SIL was wondering if her new baby resembles any of our kids at the baby stage. I took the opportunity to find these shots, too, and put them together. Do you know who is who?

Halloween 2019 πŸ‘» πŸŽƒ

This year for Halloween we have a ninja, a dog, Darth Vader, and an ostrich rider. (Though the ostrich rider may or may not be using her costume this year due to it feeling “too big.” We’ll see what she decides to do come time to go trick-or-treating.)

For good measure, I tried on Shecklet #4’s costume. πŸ˜‚ If she doesn’t use it, I might just have to wear it to hand out candy.

Carving pumpkins πŸŽƒ

Friends of ours invited us for dinner and pumpkin carving on Saturday night.Β  The kids all had a blast and ended up with some creative finished products.Β  Can you guess who carved each pumpkin?

Ren Fest 2019 and a train ride

Today’s trip to the Renaissance Festival was a first for three of us. We saw knives, royalty, and acrobatics, ate Scotch eggs, beef sticks and cheesecake, two Shecklets tried sword fighting, and the girls had face paint and henna done. We enjoyed spending the day with cousin Jess, who was a gracious guide.

Meanwhile, Shecklet #1 spend the day with Grandpa Dave. He started out at Grandma Lois’ house and had breakfast with her before Grandpa came to pick him up. They went on a train ride across the St. Croix, stopped by a candy shop in Stillwater and then headed back to Grandma Lois’ house to watch the Gophers beat Purdue! He spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, went to mass and then met Jake and Shecklet #2 at Aunt Kari’s new house. Jake worked on her getting her internet working while the boys helped with unpacking and putting things away. I’d say Shecklet #1 had a pretty packed weekend.

Kid quotes – maybe camels

Driving on the interstate a horse trailer with a website indicating Arabians drove past us.

I said, “ohhh, Arabians.”

And from the back seat I immediately hear, “maybe there’s camels.” πŸͺ

Thank you Disney and Aladdin.

MN rollercoaster

Cold and rainy last week. Swimming in the neighbor’s pool tonight. MN weather = a roller coaster 🎒

Mono – not the opposite of stereo

Sung to the tune of β€œon the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…”

🎢 On the 8th day of school, the PA said to me…your son has mono 😞

*sigh*

This kid is such a trooper.Β  He powers through anything thrown at him.Β  I’m just glad we have a reason behind his fatigue and increased need for sleep.Β πŸ’€

The 2019-2020 school year

Here we go again!

We have two middle schoolers (7th and 6th grade) and two elementary kids (3rd and 1st grade.) So thankful they are all still at the same school with the same schedule.
