Down by the U

Shecklet #2 participated in a research study at the Institute of Child Development his morning. After the appointment, I took the kids to Annie’s Parlour in Dinkytown and then we walked across the Stone Arch Bridge – yes, on one of the hottest days of the year!

Safety camp

Incoming 4th graders have an opportunity to attend a 2-day safety camp through the city.  It received two thumbs up from Shecklet #1.  His younger brother is excited to attend next summer. 🙂

Purple hair

When I was in college, I dyed my hair auburn. Apparently in the right light, it looked purple. A roommate of mine called me “Purple hair Roni” as a result. Flash forward a few years and I actually dyed my 5 1/2 year old’s hair purple. Real purple. Purchased by Auntie Kari 💜 It turned out great and Shecklet #3 has had so much fun with it.

Shecklet #4’s painted chair

We now have a complete set of chairs for our painted table. Shecklet #4 spent some time creating her masterpiece this afternoon. It was fun watching her creativity grow.

Valleyfair 2016

Grandpa Dave and Grandma Patti took us to Valleyfair as part of Grandpa Dave’s work outing. Shecklet #2 couldn’t get enough of the Corkscrew – he and Jake went on it 4 times in a row! It was a hot day, so we tried out Thunder Canyon (minus Shecklet #4 because she wasn’t tall enough.)

Snow…finally!

This morning we were able to see the grass in parts of our yard. This afternoon, we finally have snow covering it again. After school, the kids set foot inside the house just long enough to put on their snow gear and headed outside. Their friends joined them too, when they got off the bus from school. The temps are perfect today. I am sure they will play until dark!

Cold outside, tropical inside

Friends of ours (Shecklet #4’s godmother and her kids) are in town visiting this week.  We were able to spend several hours with them yesterday afternoon as well as today.  Since Minnesota refuses to give up winter, we ruled out a park gathering and instead opted for the zoo.  We scurried from building to building to see all of the animals and then ended up in the conservatory, where things were quite tropical.
