Aunts

My kids have some pretty awesome aunts. They engage in conversations with them, play games, attend birthdays and sacraments and do a fantastic job at letting all four of kids know that they are special to them.

One aunt started a tradition of having the kids over for a sleepover as their birthday present. I joked with her today that if she ever ends the tradition, she’s going to have some very disappointed nieces and nephews!

Shecklet #2 spent the night last night (for his 11th bday present) and came home with a collection of perler bead creations. Pretty cool ones, in my opinion!

Reconciliation ice cream

We were challenged by the March Family Formation speaker to receive the sacrament of reconciliation before the April FF session. If we did, we could email the Family Formation director and she would enter our names into a drawing for a small prize. Shecklet #3 and I were able to enter our names into the drawing and #3 won! She received a gift certificate to a local ice cream shop and a pretty bracelet.

She and I went to get a sweet treat this evening.

5th grade b-ball league tourney 2019 ๐Ÿงจ๐Ÿ€

This guy’s 5th grade basketball team played their hearts out this weekend! 3rd place out of 17 teams!

I had two parents come up to me at two different times today to say how they wished they were playing us for the championship tomorrow night because they were so impressed with our boysโ€™ sportsmanship. Those moms didnโ€™t need to give those compliments – they did so completely on their own.

So proud of his guy and his teammates!

Games with Grands

Grandma and Grandpa came to see Shecklet #2’s basketball game today and brought Grandma Lois, too. After the game, we came back to our house for pizza and the kids got to play games with their grandparents. Another fun memory was made tonight. ๐Ÿ’—

Taco Sunday

We were out of taco seasoning so Shecklet #2 helped make a quadruple batch – some to use now and some for later.

Sledding after rain and snow

Jake took the Shecklets to find inner tubes for the sledding ramp they built toward the bottom of the hill in the backyard. They came home with these:

On the second run, Shecklet #2’s donut hit a screw head on the fence and exploded. Thankfully, he was physically fine. Unfortunately, he was pretty devastated that his new tube only lasted one and a half times down the hill.ย ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Settergren Christmas 2018

We gathered at Grandma Lois’ church to celebrate Christmas with almost all of the family this afternoon. We feasted in Swedish meatballs, sausage, vegetables, salad, jello & rolls. After opening gifts, we had desert. Delicious food and fun family made for a great day – but we definitely missed having Papa Dale with us!

Shecklet #2 decided he wanted to dress more festive, so we tracked down a llama sweater for him (at our second Target stop.). Not wanting to be left out, Shecklets 1, 3 & 4 also found festive Christmas tops to wear to the family party.

Pre-Thanksgiving 2018

Our good friends from KC came to visit for a few days. Many laughs and fun memories were made and we captured a couple of pictures to document how much the kids have grown ๐Ÿ˜Š

This kid loves her godparents so much!

Trip to the local ninja gym for some exercise.

Rare mom selfie!

Basketball for Shecklet #4

Three of the four Shecklets are giving basketball a try this season. One of the neighboring cities has a program that introduces kindergarten kids to the sport. For four Saturday mornings, they get to practice dribbling, shooting, and playing some fun games. Shecklet #4 is already asking when she can sign up to play basketball again ๐Ÿ€
