QOTD from Nolan

“Mom, I love you.  You’re my good mommy!”  Told to me as I was helping him put on his jacket so he could go play in the backyard with his dad.

Donuts!

I had an interesting conversation with Shecklet #2 this morning as we drove into the grocery store parking lot.

Shecklet #2: “I want donuts!”

Me: “Where do you get donuts?”

Shecklet #2: “Cub!”

Guess it’s pretty telling where we frequently stop after mass on Sunday mornings and what we generally pick up 🙂

Dentist

Today was the day.  Nolan visited the dentist for the first time!  Well actually, we tried bringing him 6 months ago just to let him see the office and try riding in the chair, but he wanted no part of it.  What a difference half of a year makes.  He watched me go through my appointment (sitting on Daddy’s lap) and then when it was his turn, sat there like a pro!  He had me hold his hand, but other than that, he didn’t need any other support.  (The staff at the dental office are fantastic!)  He wore sunglasses to block the bright light from shining in his eyes and they even played a DVD for him to watch.  (Man, things have changed since I first went to the dentist!)  Afterward, he picked out his toothbrush and got his picture taken with Dr. Shamp.  Now whenever we drive by the dentist’s office, he tells me that he wants to go again.  How’s that for a great first experience?!

Coloring for Easter

Nolan had a preschool assignment that entailed my writing about what makes him a “good egg” and then he was supposed to color the egg.  Since Lincoln always needs to do what his big brother is doing, I found an Easter picture for him to color too.

Lincoln turns 2!

Our little monkey turned two today!  It seems that time has gone much faster the 2nd go-around.  I can hardly believe he is already starting his second year.  He helped me make his birthday cake – he loves to help “cook.”  Meanwhile, Nolan helped clean the house.  In the evening, we had a small gathering of family and friends.  The monkey cake was a huge hit 🙂

Tony’s 30th

March 22, 2010.  My brother has entered the same decade as me once again.  It’s funny though, for some reason I have a hard time picturing him as 30.  In my mind, he’s perpetually something closer to 25.  Unfortunately, in my mind, I continue to age.  I should change that.  Ha!

The boys enjoyed helping place 30 candles on Uncle Tony’s birthday cake and then assisting with blowing them out.  Nolan somehow also snuck almost the entire chocolate bar birthday sign on the cake into his mouth before anyone noticed.

Happy birthday, little brother!

Gift from “Uncle” Thomas

Lincoln’s 2nd birthday started a few days before the big day with the arrival of a few cards and this special present from “Uncle” Thomas.  He sent a few Lincoln pennies and $2 bills.  Pretty special gifts for a 2 year old, Lincoln 🙂

St. Patrick’s Day cupcakes

Fun with frosting, sprinkles & toothpick decorations!  After we made and decorated the funfetti cupcakes, Nolan suggested we bring a cupcake to our backyard neighbor, Kitty.  She’s the sweetest lady – always has some sort of treat for the boys.  Sometimes it’s candy, other times it’s fresh raspberries from her garden – yum!  She was pleasantly surprised by our visit.  And the boys were happy to share their St. Patty’s Day treats with her.  I love that my kids think of others and I don’t even have to suggest it!

Hanging St. Patty’s Day decorations

My mom sent home St. Patrick’s Day goodies for the boys which included window gel clings and cupcake decorations.  The boys love decorating the windows for the various holidays.  They decorate and then redecorate and then redecorate again.  It gets to the point where Jake and I have to put the window decor far enough out of reach so the windows get a break every once in a while.
