1st trip to the deer shack

Jake took the boys up north this weekend.  He is there with his dad, two uncles, cousins, and a couple of other guys.  I’ve missed their calls due to working on few projects around the house with my dad, but did get a couple of cute messages and one text.  Apparently, Nolan is having a great time and the “man weekend” is better than donuts. 🙂

Date night

Nolan is a huge music lover (all kinds.)  He can often be found changing stations or CDs and dancing or singing along to what is playing.  I’m hoping to have him start piano lessons in the next year or so.  Anyway, I digress…  He is also often intrigued by the music that comes out of the organ at mass on Sundays.

The two of us had a mom-son date tonight.  Our church hosted a professional organist who gave a concert on the 5-keyboard organ we have in our sanctuary. We had front row seats and were able to watch the organist’s fingers dance across the keys while his feet maneuvered the pedals with precision.  I loved spending the evening with my big-little guy.  I’m pretty sure he enjoyed the one-on-one time, too.

I am loved

I spent the greater part of the day being reminded that I am loved by the man that I love.  Such a simple gesture that meant so much to me.  I smiled each time, knowing he is aware of the places I frequent during the day.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have an obsession tendency to over-use Post-it notes to remind me of things.  (Case in point, my kitchen window.)  The fact that Jake would use Post-its to say “I love you” ( in spite of his dislike of the medium) shows me just how much he meant each one he placed in my path today.
