HBD Shecklet #1 – take 1

Our oldest Shecklet turned 11 today. I think I say it every year, but I’ll say it again anyway- time goes so fast! He has passed the 5′ mark. Hard to believe he was just 22″ when we met him for the first time 11 years ago. He works hard in school and likes Star Wars, science, and social studies. He really wanted rollerblades, so if you want to find him this summer, watch for him in the bike paths!

Birthdays and Mother’s Day 2017

The weather could not have been any nicer today as we celebrated two birthdays and Mother’s Day with our family.

Aunt Larissa had Shecklet #2 overnight last night. (He had a blast, of course!) We celebrated her birthday, Jake’s birthday, and Mother’s Day by going on a walk while the kids biked, playing in the sprinklers and using water guns while we prepared dinner, and having lemon cake (heart and horse shaped) for dessert. Even T-Rex showed up for the festivities.

SPARK tickets

When your oldest child earns a pocketful of SPARK tickets and said child’s pants go through the wash before their pockets are emptied, not only do the pockets turn red, but you find this inside:

HBD to Jake!

The Shecklets and I celebrated Jake’s birthday this evening along with his parents and sister, Larissa. T-Rex even showed up 😂

Pre-landscape refresh

Three of the Shecklets are trying to save the moss that has grown under our birch trees in the backyard. Tomorrow we have a crew coming in to remove old/dead plants and trees and refresh the landscaping in the yard.

Meanwhile, Shecklet #4 is dancing on the deck.

Lunch with Buddy Bear

Every year the preschoolers each get a turn spending time with Buddy Bear and documenting their adventures. Then he makes the rounds again (with a binder full of pictures and stories) that the preschoolers get to enjoy. Shecklet #4 made sure he jo bed her for lunch today.

Unplanned shopping

We spend the afternoon/early evening at our friends’ house celebrating their youngest’ 1st birthday. On the way home, we stopped at an outlet mall and picked up a few things – completely unplanned.

Reunited!

Our Kansas friends were visiting MN for the weekend. (They were supposed to stay with us, but Shecklet #4’s week-long sickness changed that plan.) Instead, I took the three older Shecklets to the hotel where they were staying so he kids could swim. And swim they did! For about 3 hours! They each chowed down two hamburgers on the ride home.

Spring concert #1

Shecklet #3 had her spring music concert tonight. Before singing, she showed us her art projects at the art fair.
